Most coffee makers are plastic rectangles. Increasingly, they also want to be smart, connected, and capable of things a coffee maker has no business doing.
Caraway went back to basics. The Clean Brew Coffee Maker has a glass-and-stainless-steel brew path, a single dial, and no app. No Wi-Fi and no notifications.
Why we love it

Why we love it
Plastic-free. Coffee is one of those everyday things you probably don't think much about when it comes to plastic. Caraway designed the brew path so water and coffee don't come into contact with plastic, which feels like a pretty sensible place to start.
Brewed coffee is underrated. Espresso machines get all the attention. Pour-over has become a personality. Pods are convenient. But a really good pot of drip coffee is hard to beat, and it doesn't need to become your entire personality.
It isn't trying to be smart. It makes coffee. That's the feature. In a world where every appliance seems determined to connect to your phone, something about a product that knows exactly what it is supposed to do feels refreshing.
And, yes, it looks good. Available in Cream, Stone, Midnight, and Clay, it's a coffee maker you might actually want to leave on the counter rather than hide it when someone comes over.”
The catch? At $495, it's expensive for a drip coffee maker, and there's no programmable start time. Caraway says it brews two to ten cups and keeps coffee warm for up to 90 minutes.
We haven't tested it, so we're not calling it the best coffee maker we've ever used. But the plastic-free brew path, thoughtful design, and refusal to become another smart device make it one of the more interesting appliances we've seen lately.
Maybe the smartest thing a coffee maker can do is just make coffee.
